Fox Peak

Fox Peak is a non-profit club-run ski field on the Two Thumb Range, just 40km from Fairlie, South Canterbury. Renowned for its friendly and uncrowded atmosphere, Fox Peak offers huge runs catering for skiers and boarders of all abilities. The South Basin is described as a gem and is not visible form the main field. It offers untracked powder and runs for all abilities.

Fox Peak creates a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere and is a ski field that is able to cater to beginners who have a keen sense of adventure too. Three lift services access 500 hectares of skiable area but only run on the weekends. Mountain accommodation is available Friday and Saturday nights.

Fox Peak Tips:

  1. Novice skiers should check out the ‘Shirt Front’ track. It is a fast and exciting groomed run which can be easily traversed
  2. Hiking up from the top of the Apex offers some amazing back country waiting to explored by more experience skiers and snowboarders
  3. There is a lodge to stay in on the mountain but it is fully self-catered so make sure you bring food, sleeping bags and pillows
