Mt Ruapehu is the North Island's premier skiing destination, located midway between Auckland and Wellington.  It is hard not to be impressed by the mammoth active volcano Mt Ruapehu, and it is home to New Zealand’s two largest ski areas Whakapapa and Turoa - which are also the North Island's only commercial ski areas. Offering an expanse of varied terrain and arguably some of the most interesting and challenging in the country. Tukino, located on the mountain's eastern side, is a smaller club area with limited facilities but unlimited character.

There is an expanse of accommodation options which can be found at Ohakune, National Park, Turangi, and Lake Taupo. Ruapehu is a popular mountain for families and caters for every ability skier or snowboarder.
