Charlotte Pass is in the heart of the Snowy Mountain Range and is the go to resort for skiers and snowboarders who are wanting a proper snow village atmosphere. Accessed only by a special over-snow transport, you can leave your car at the Skitube Alpine Railway base and travel through an underground tunnel to reach this unique mountain. While Charlotte Pass is a smaller resort it is the most consistent for best quality snowfall which for 2013 sees the introduction of their Enhanced Natural Terrain Programme. The Groomers use their innovative techniques to develop existing features and make the wide-open pistes more accessible for advanced riders to explore. As well as catering for the experienced, Charlotte Pass offers a variety of terrain for all levels and is a great mountain to visit for a family of mixed abilities.
Charlotte Pass is a 6 ½ hours’ drive from Sydney and a 7 hour drive from Melbourne. Being the highest altitude resort in Australia, you come across spectacular views of Mt. Kosciuszko and the entire Snowy Mountains Range. The resort offers accommodation or you can stay at Jindabyne or Perisher and make a day trip to the Pass. If you choose to stay at the resort make sure you book in advance.
